Privacy Policy
September 2026
Simon Community Development Initiative (“we,” “us,” “the Initiative”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we collect through this website, why, and how we protect it — consistent with the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023.
What We Collect
Donors: name, email, and payment confirmation — we never store your card details; these are handled directly by our payment processor.
Members: name, contact details, and membership category.
Volunteers and Ambassadors: name, contact details, and application information.
Programme applicants: household and need-related information, collected only for the specific programme.
Why We Collect It
Only to deliver the service you've requested — issuing a donation receipt, processing a membership, reviewing a volunteer or Ambassador application, or delivering programme support. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for their own marketing.
Cookies
This website uses cookies only for essential site function and privacy-respecting analytics. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
Your Rights
You may request to see what data we hold about you, request a correction, or request deletion where no legal or programme obligation requires us to retain it. Contact us using the details on our Contact page.
Data Security
Access to donor, member, and beneficiary records is role-restricted to authorized staff. Any suspected data breach is investigated and, where required, reported within 72 hours, consistent with NDPA expectations.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as our systems or legal obligations change. The effective date above will always reflect the most recent version.
Data Retention
We retain personal data only for as long as it is reasonably necessary to provide our services, administer programmes, maintain appropriate records, resolve disputes, and comply with applicable legal or regulatory obligations. When personal data is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to securely delete or anonymize it.
Sharing Your Information
We may share personal data with trusted service providers where necessary to operate our programmes and website, including payment processors, hosting providers, technology providers, and other partners supporting our activities. These providers are expected to handle personal data securely and only for the purposes for which it was provided.
Payment Information
Donations and other payments made through this website may be processed by third-party payment providers. Payment card details are submitted directly to the applicable payment processor and are not stored on our systems. Their handling of payment information is subject to their own privacy policies and security practices.
Children's Privacy
Our website is not intended to knowingly collect personal information directly from children without appropriate consent or involvement of a parent, guardian, or authorized programme representative. Where information relating to children is required for a programme, we collect and use it only for the relevant programme purpose and with appropriate safeguards.
Third-Party Websites
Our website may contain links to websites or services operated by third parties. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those websites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing them with personal information.
